for community, by community
acowsay film company is inspired to tell stories that highlight the human spirit and have a real impact on communities. We knew this story — the story of a new women’s soccer team created for community, by community — happening in our own backyard, was one that we needed to be a part of. So we packed up our cameras and spent the summer on the sidelines, from the first game to the championship. League rules and pandemic precautions provided challenges that limited all-access, but the players left it all on the field.
We are honored to share this short documentary capturing the MN Aurora FC's inaugural season. The film is not only about the sport, but also about the spirit of the team, the community, and the impact that is only just beginning. With year one in the books, we can’t wait to see what the future holds. Watch below.
SPECIAL THANKS TO the Aurora founders, staff, team, and USLW league, as well as to the community that made this all possible.
the inaugural season
In the midst of a pandemic, nine future founders of The Aurora met outside at a brewery with one big idea. That big idea became something genuinely extraordinary when 3,080 people from throughout the country joined together to become community owners. The MN Aurora FC's inaugural season exceeded the founders' wildest dreams, and put the spotlight on the best of the sport and the community.
