One conversation on a family vacation at the beach with my Uncle John (the former Chief Strategic Officer for the ADA) led to a collaboration with the organization at Camp Needlepoint in 2018. An extremely hot August day led our team to experience all that Camp Needlepoint has to offer, from learning how to sail, to different types of snakes, to putting diabetic pump sites in their bodies for the first time; the kids at camp have the time of their lives.
Tracey Brown, CEO of the American Diabetes Association, says that the magic of Camp Needlepoint comes in the form of confidence. The camp gives children who are living with diabetes the opportunity to do things that all other kids get to do while being cared for by knowledgeable counselors, doctors, and nutritionists everyday.
